About the product

Baroida Estate is located in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, in the Kainantu region. The farm was established in the 1960s by Ben Colbran, one of the first to cultivate coffee in these valleys as agricultural development expanded into the highlands. Today, the work is carried on by Ben’s son, Nicol. The estate takes its name from a local legend about the Baroida spirit, believed to reside in a large river stone and protect the farm from flooding.

The plantations sit between 1,700 and 1,850 metres above sea level in the valleys of the Lamari River, surrounded by former colonial estates and smallholder gardens. The Colbran family cultivates Arusha, Bourbon, Mundo Novo and Typica, with a clear focus on producing high-quality microlots. The cup is syrupy and full-bodied, with deep, structured complexity and sweet notes of black cherry, cola, licorice, cacao nibs and white pepper through the finish.
