About the product

High altitudes, dramatic Andean climate, fertile soils and thousands of small family farms create coffees with remarkable character. This coffee comes from Puno in southern Peru, near the Bolivian border, where Finca Yanacocha belongs to Lizbeth Paredes Quispe, one of the youngest coffee producers in the region. She experiments with varieties, processing and farm management, representing a new generation of Peruvian producers who see coffee as a craft and a life’s work.

Located at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level and surrounded by dense vegetation, Yanacocha experiences large temperature swings between day and night. These conditions slow cherry maturation, allowing the coffee to develop more sweetness and a deeper, more layered character. This lot is an exceptionally rare SL9 variety, a lesser-known member of the SL line developed by Scott Laboratories nearly a century ago and later made famous in Kenya.
