Samaipata Bounty

The Rodriguez coffee family is one of the coffee dynasties that has helped shape the modern specialty coffee scene, and we have previously had the pleasure of tasting their auction coffees. In the Samaipata region, wine and coffee grow side by side naturally in a rare valley landscape. Here, the Rodriguez family runs two farms, Trapiche and Floripondio, with Floripondio spanning an entire valley shaped by slopes, winds, shifting humidity and elevation.

Floripondio is rich in vegetation and wildlife, including pumas and a lynx recently spotted among the coffee cherries. The Rodriguez family grows an extraordinary range of exotic and rare varieties, including Geisha, Obata, Java and Kenyan SL. This lot showcases the Kenyan SL variety, with perfumed aromatics, tropical fruit notes and structured, lively mineral acidity.
