Angel‘s Trumpet

The Rodriguez coffee family is one of the coffee dynasties that has helped shape the modern specialty coffee scene, and we have previously had the pleasure of tasting their auction coffees. In the Samaipata coffee region, wine and coffee grow naturally side by side in a rare valley terroir. Here, the Rodriguez family runs two farms, Trapiche and Floripondio, with Floripondio stretching across an entire valley of slopes, shifting winds, humidity and elevation.

Floripondio is rich in vegetation and wildlife, including pumas and, this year, a lynx that was spotted among the coffee cherries. The Rodriguez family grows an extraordinary range of exotic and rare varieties, including Geisha, Obata, Java and Kenyan SL. This particular coffee showcases the distinctive character of the Kenyan SL variety.
