Origin Story

The Rodriguez coffee family is one of those cult coffee dynasties that set the standard and quietly shape what the modern specialty coffee scene looks like today. Some may remember — we have already had the pleasure and glory of tasting their auction coffees before.

The Samaipata coffee region is a rarity: a valley where wine and coffee grow naturally side by side. Only a few places on the planet share this kind of geology. Here the Rodriguez family runs two farms — Trapiche and Floripondio — one of the most fascinating coffee terroirs in the world.

Floripondio is full of life. Everything pulses like a small paradise: vegetation, birds, animals. There are pumas, of course. This year the farmers even spotted a lynx that had developed a taste for coffee cherries. The farm itself is vast — not a hillside, not a few hectares, but an entire valley. Slopes, winds, shifting humidity, elevation — everything working in favour of coffee.

The Rodriguez family grows an extraordinary range of varieties here — exotic and rare. Geisha, Obata, Java, and many unusual selections. Among them — Kenyan SL.

In the cup: perfumed aromatics, tropical fruit notes, and a structured, lively mineral acidity.
