A classic Kenyan variety, planted in the volcanic soils of El Salvador. Structured and firm in the cup, with expressive aromatics and clarity. A standout example of specialty coffee, shaped by the craft and precision of the Cafe Pacas team. Grown in the sheltered, mountainous landscape of the Santa Ana region, at La Esperanza.
La Esperanza carries a story of care and continuity. Sonia Moran, who inherited the farm from her parents, took her time in choosing who would carry it forward. The turning point came in meeting Alfredo Pacas Diaz and his son, Juan Alfredo Pacas Martinez. Since 2010, the farm has been part of the Cafe Pacas family.
When coffee leaf rust struck in 2012, the farm underwent an extensive replanting. What could have been a setback became an opportunity — La Esperanza evolved into a diverse garden of varieties. Today, the farm is divided into 18 tablones, where Pacas, Red Bourbon, Pacamara, Orange Bourbon, Kenya, Ethiopian Heirloom, Moka, and Bernardina are each grown, harvested, and processed separately.
